Origins of Our Name: Harkness Capital

Our team seeks to generate extra-ordinary returns by leveraging our group’s knowledge and experience to identify investment opportunities to drive long-term value in those investments.

The Harkness approach, or Harkness discussion* is how we work together:

  • An active discussion among a small group seated around an oval table
  • A means to gain greater knowledge, insight and solutions based on the collective experiences, training and viewpoints of our team
  • Testing ideas and viewpoints through open dialogue, and active reasoning
  • A collegial and active dialogue around key issues, concerns and opportunities

* Developed at Phillips Exeter Academy. The oil magnate and philanthropist Edward Harkness presented the school with a challenge and gift in 1930 to devise a new approach to learning and teaching where students gain greater insights and perspectives from one another.
